The Girl with the Red Hood

Something terrible has happened in the village of Wolf Bane. One of the younger girls,Cindy, had just been attacked by the werewolf. Her gown was soaked with blood and there was a path of bloody paw prints leading to the dark forest. Amanda, not knowing about her sister Cindy, was in the dark forest flirting with the woodsmen. He was a handsome fella but her mother had other plans for her.

When Amanda heard the scream she came running toward the village and saw her sister lying like an angel on the ground while her blood was all around her. Amanda quickly held her sister and cried while the other girls just stood around watching. Finally, Amanda's mother and father came around to see who was the victim the wolf took. When they found out it was their youngest daughter they cried and picked her up to put on a funeral.

As the funeral was going on, the father and the rest of the men were huddling up in one of the upstairs apartments figuring out how to hunt this wolf and kill it, but what they didn’t know was that the wolf was among them. The men were getting their horses ready and weapons to ride off into the dark forest to kill the wolf.

Before Toby got on his horse to led the men into the dark forest, he went over to Amanda and gave her a necklace he made to represent their engagement. Amanda took it and told him to be careful. Toby got on his horse and lead the men into the dark forest.

Amanda didn’t want to marry Toby; she was in love with the huntsman. Her mother had arranged a marriage with Toby because he came from a wealthy family who could give her everything. While Amanda walked back to her house, the wolf decided to appear.

She tried to run away from it but the wolf cornered her and said “ Amanda, come with me and I can give you a world you could never imagine. It only takes one bite.”

Amanda said “ How can you talk to me? How can I hear you? I never want to be anything like you, you’re a murderer! I will NEVER be like you.”

The wolf said “ You don’t have to decide now, I will be back for you in three days” Then the wolf vanished.

Amanda went home and climbed in bed. She had a dream that she was at grandma’s house and the wolf was there to collect her answer. She told the wolf no and ran off but the wolf was too fast for her and caught up to her in a matter of time. Then the wolf opened its mouth to bite her. She then woke up sweating and her mother asked if she was okay. Amanda said yes. When she woke up the men were coming back but only a few came back. She immediately got up and went outside to see if the huntsman came back. He did, with father and Toby. There was a complete silence with a cart behind them with victims of the wolf.

When the men came back Amanda put on her red cloak and put a basket of bread and red wine together to bring to grandmother's house. As she was walking through the dark forest, a strange young handsome fella came up to her and asked where she was heading.

She replied "to grandmother house."

"oh where are my manners? My name is Scott. Where does your grandmother live?"

Forgetting about the wolf, she said the only house in the woods its near the lake. He then took her basket and told her he will beat her to grandmother's house.

She raced him but he got there before she did. He opened the door and grandmother wasn’t there but a man who was in his early 40s.

He asked him “where is my daughter?”
he replied “I raced her here”
Then her father said “You came alone?“
 The young man replied “yes.”
Then the father said “Good, no one will hear you scream.”
Then he turned into the big bad wolf and in two bites ate thee young man. By the time Amanda got to grandmother’s house the door was open.

She went into the house and shouted for her grandmother. There was no response. As she went into the house further she spotted the footprints of the wolf turning into a human footprint. She was trying to put two and two together. The only two people that knew she was coming was the young man and her father. She had no sight of the young man since he left the path and her father (well he was back at the village at least she thought he was). Then in the doorway her father stood.

He said, “ Finally I have you alone. Have you decided on your answer?

She turned around and started backing up slowly and said “You’re the wolf.”

The father said “yes that is why you could hear me when I talked to you.”

Amanda asked, “Then why did you kill my baby sister and the men that went into the forest?”

The father told her to sit down. He started the story by telling her his family curse and with a bite you can turn into a wolf. He said that he showed up in wolf form to talk to Cindy and when he found out that she couldn’t hear him that’s when he knew Amanda's mother cheated on him so he killed her.

He said,“ Everyman in the village was going to find out sooner or later so I decided to split up and then I killed them because I didn’t want my secret getting out.”

After he told her the story he asked her one more time “Will you come with me?” and she declined. She angered him so much, he turned into his wolf form and was about to have her for dinner but the huntsman got there and tackled him to the ground. As they were fighting, Amanda grabbed the kitchen knife and told her father to stop.
She said “if you promise not to hurt anyone I will go with you.” Her father then turned back to human form and at the right moment she stabbed him in the heart. The huntsman then told her to collect some stones. He cut her father open and put the stones in his chest and sewed him back up. They took him to the dock and pushed him in the water. As his body was sinking in the water the huntsman holding his arm realized he was doomed. The huntsman had gotten a bite from her father. That night Amanda had given him something sacred that no other man can now get.

  1. After a really powerful beginning, this is quite a twist on the story, Donielle. But I think it works. I will give you your text with some suggestions for how to fix paragraphing and some little grammar things.
